Lost wax Azabache Amulet

I wanted to make an Azabache amulet- a symbol in Puerto Rican culture to fight off evil energy- and make a necklace with it. I took a lost wax class at Tyler and made the idea a reality in 2017. I used my right hand (which is my dominant hand) as my reference. The whole thing was carved by memory and instinct. I’m proud of that since I didn’t have any previous experience with the tools and materials available to me and as soon as I looked at that cube of wax my 2D sketch was not telling of a 3D object AT ALL. It was so challenging, in the best way. I was really into this project and it’s about time I make a run of them.
